How do stretch marks develop during pregnancy and how can we prevent their appearance?
During pregnancy a woman’s body undergoes many changes: varicose veins, intensive hair-loss, excess skin, stretch marks, fatigue etc. In most cases these should cause no reason for worry as proper care and attention during pregnancy and following childbirth will help minimize and prevent damage.
The most prominent of problems is stretch marks; almost 90% of pregnant women develop stretch marks during pregnancy. Stretch marks are white lines that usually appear in the abdomen, hips, thighs or buttocks area. At first, their color will be red; then they turn into purple-crimson and finally, when they fade, they turn white.
Apart from pregnancies, stretch marks can result from various reasons such as weight gaining or loss, accelerated growth (in children) and genetics. In those cases, stretch marks appear when the collagen fibers within the skin are trying to adjust themselves to growing volume and as a result simply tear.
The most efficient way to treat stretch marks is by using nourishing cream or oil gel which contains unique aromatic oils (such as almond, calendula, avocado and grape seed oils), rich moisturizes, soothing medicinal herbs and vitamins that intensively soften and comfort the skin, care for its elasticity and refine stretch marks.
How to treat: apply liberally and gently massage into abdomen, hips, thighs and buttocks after bathing, 3 times a day.
Kindly remember, refining stretch marks may take a while and depends on several factors such as: skin type, nutrition and physical exercise. Moreover, it is important to know that it is easier to treat “fresh” stretch marks (purple-crimson color), therefore it is important to start the treatment as early as possible, with the first signs of stretch marks or even before they appear.
What causes diaper rashes to appear and what is the recommended treatment method?
Diaper rash is the most common skin problem among babies; each baby will probably suffer from it at least once. Diaper rash is a skin inflammation manifested in irritation, redness of the skin, chaps and dryness in the areas covered by the baby’s diaper – buttocks, crotches, hips and lower abdomen. A combination of factors causes diaper rash to appear: direct contact of the baby’s delicate skin with its secretions and humidity & heat that result in the formation of bacteria, fungus etc.
Most cases of diaper rash, also known as “Dermatitis”, heal quickly after proper and efficient care. Cleansing and preventive care routine will protect the baby’s skin from recurrence of diaper rash. Daily use of Fischer Pharmaceuticals Olivene ointment soothes, nourishes and replenishes baby’s skin, reduces irritations, minimizes redness and creates a protective barrier that seals out wetness.
Diaper rash treatment directions:
Change baby’s diaper frequently, do not tighten the diaper too much and remove it every once in a while to allow the baby’s buttocks to breath. Cleanse the irritated area by washing the diaper area with running water. It is recommended to use specially formulated diaper rash ointments that are enriched with oils and Zink Oxide, such as Fischer Pharmaceuticals Oilvene.
In any case of worsening consult with your doctor.

How does a baby’s skin differ from adult’s skin and which products are recommended for bathing a baby?
Baby’s skin absorbs and loses moisture more rapidly than adult skin; therefore it is important to use products that are especially formulated to care and protect for baby’s delicate skin.
It is recommended to use extra mild, gentle and moisture enriched bathing products that cleanse, soothe and moisturize baby’s delicate skin without depleting its moisture barrier. It is also known that the use of detergent-based soaps can interfere and harm the skin’s natural protective oils.
For babies who suffer from extra-dry skin, it is recommended to add an oil wash to the bath water in addition to the extra mild moisture-enriched bath wash. In addition, it is recommended to apply a moisturizing lotion on baby’s skin after the bath. Using a combination of such products will lock-in the skin’s moisture and assist in actively treating and protecting baby’s skin health against chaps, dryness and irritation.
Many baby bathing products can be found on the market; however, not all are suited for baby’s delicate skin. When purchasing any baby products, we recommend looking for the below tests:
• Hypoallergenic – The product has been broadly tested and found to be unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.
• Sensitive Approved- A more stringent test; the product has been broadly tested on sensitive skin and found to be unlikely to cause an allergic reaction.
My one-month old infant’s skin is dry and chapped, what is the cause of this? How can I help him to get “baby skin”?
Dry skin is very common among infants, especially in their first year of life. Dryness can occur as a result of birth itself or sometimes as a result of climatic conditions, air-conditioning or home heating devices. It is also known that the use of detergent-based soaps can interfere and harm the skin’s natural protective oils.
Dry, chapped and irritated skin conditions can be easily treated by providing the skin with essential moisture and locking it in to protects the skin’s moisture. There are many treatment solutions, such as body lotion or moisture-enriched bath wash, but the most effective solution is wash oil that moisturize baby‘s delicate skin without depleting its important moisture barrier.
The wash oil is perfectly suited for an infant’s daily cleansing care and is highly recommended by pediatricians and dermatologists to use from the first bath.

What are head lice and how do you get infected with it?
Head lice is a parasite which humans are the only known hosts of, it is common among children but can be found in adults as well.
To attach an egg to the base of the hair, the adult female lice secrete glue from her reproductive organ. Typically, hatching time is six to 10 days after oviposition.
Head lice mainly spread by close person-to-person contact, in most cases by head-to-head contact or shared use of products such as hair combs, hats, towels, bed linens etc. This is a common problem, especially for children ages 3 years to 13 years. Children in that age group are most prone to catching lice because they tend to be found in group settings and have close physical contact with each other.
Scratching is the typical sign for the presence of lice; it usually starts a few weeks after the infestation, as the reproduction process begins. The head lice bites causes the scalp to become itchy and inflamed, this is actually due to a reaction to the saliva of lice.
It is important to start the treatment as soon as possible and it is recommended for the entire family to check and see whether they were infected in order to efficiently eradicate the phenomenon and prevent the inflammation of others.
We recommend the use of Fischer Pharmaceuticals Comb & Care Active – a natural and effective treatment hair spray that was clinically tested at dermatological research institutes and was shown to be highly effective following only 10 minute treatment.
Does completing a treatment guarantee non-reoccurrence of head lice?
No, completing a treatment does not guarantee non-reoccurrence of head lice; another infestation may occur right after completing the treatment. Therefore, it is important to maintain a daily hygienic care of children’s hair with Fischer Pharmaceuticals Comb & Care product range. Comb & Care products are formulated to protect against lice and nits while making hygienic daily grooming fun for the child and the parent. The products contain Rosemary Oil, which is commonly known as a natural lice-repellant, altogether with a unique tangle free formula for easy manageable hair.
It is recommended to examine the child’s hair at least once a week for lice presence by placing a light colored towel across the child’s shoulders and thoroughly comb the hair, preferably when wet, strand by strand from root to tip, for at least 4 minutes with a fine-tooth comb. This examination will help detect infestation in early stages, before the lice eggs hatch.
One last thing – it is advisable to explain to your child that in order to reduce the risk of lice infestation, it is recommended to put the hair up and not share products (comb, hair bands, towel, hats and etc) that come in contact with the hair.
